Look Out World ... Here I Come

As of the first of August, this website is fully functional until the book becomes available. It will allow visitors to the site to prepay for a copy of the book at a really good price or to reserve a copy at better than the regular price. Of course it will be updated to include more info about the book and have additional blog entries. I’m pleased that it came together a month in advance of its planned opening. And, yes, I do realize that, if you’re reading this, you probably already know that. I’m just so excited I had to put it into words.

I have the rest of the month of August to finish the book, if I am to stick to the plan. I’m fairly confident that I’ll make it. There’s some actual writing to do and error correcting. The illustrations are under way and there are a few more pictures to take and the back and side covers have to be designed. I plan to have it ready for a few beta readers and editing by September 1. After the final changes I’ll be ready to have a proof copy printed. It’s like having a baby complete with all the pain.

From now on I’ll be experimenting with marketing the book. I’ll be contacting pet related businesses to see if they’ll be interested in carrying the book. I’ll have another website for them to order the book, but that won’t be a major effort and will be done after the book is completed. If anyone reading this is in the pet business and wants to find out more, please use the Contact page. Also, if you like what you see, please feel free to tell as many of your friends ( and even your enemies) about the book and website. Schroedinger wants to become the most famous cat the world has ever seen.

Of course, Schroedinger is doing his best to help me get through this effort. When I sit at the computer he lies beside me on the desk and sometimes walks on the keyboard or hits a key with his tail, butt or paw. He also puts his paws on the answering machine and presses the buttons. It destroys my concentration when I hear, “Please set date and time” or just, “beep, beep, beep”. He gets really angry if. after telling him to stop a few times, I pick him up and toss him onto the bed. So far, he hasn’t bitten me when I do that. He simply leaves the room until he calms down and then returns and does it again.

The accompanying photo shows him on the desk with his butt against the keyboard. It also shows that I have a very sloppy desk. I am going to spend some time today to reduce the clutter and get things to the point where I can actually clean the desk and remove the covering of white cat fur. By the way, do you know the difference between hair and fur? Hair never stops growing. Fur reaches its full size and falls out. I believe that only mammals have hair. This is probably due to the fact that we are the only creatures with the brains to invent scissors and the hands to use them.
